Habit of Gratitude Journal + Reaching 1000…

“It’s habits that can imprison you and it’s habits that can free you.

But when thanks to God becomes a habit –  so joy in God becomes your life.”

And with this simple task, this simple habit of keeping a gratitude list?  You will:

1. Have a relative absence of stress and depression

2. Make progress towards important personal goals

3. Report higher levels of determination and energy

4. Feel closer in their relationships and desire to build stronger relationships

5. Increase your happiness by 25% — (Yes, really! Who wouldn’t want a quarter more happiness!)

{from Ann Voskamp’s #1000 Gifts study}

This joy that He gives is a function of our gratitude, of our heart of thanksgiving. And that gratitude is a function of of perspective.

Choosing to be grateful, to see the small, and to be thankful has changed my perspective.

I give thanks!

I experience great joy!

I live in His joy!

Counting your 1,000 gifts can seem daunting. But, I challenge you- just count 3 gifts per day. In one year, you will have counted 1,000 gifts. 1,000 of His great gifts. He gives you more than 3 each day!

They are gifts heard, unheard, or unspoken.

They are treasures from His word.

Things that are blue, red, green, or white.

Gifts written on paper, typed out in an email, or seen on a wall or in a picture.

Gifts from the kitchen. {those are some of my favorites}

Gifts that you can feel, touch, smell, hold; gifts that are tangible.

Gifts that grow and can be enjoyed.

Some gifts are hard gifts, gifts you may not want to recognize or even still be grateful for.

A gift that makes you laugh…

even ones that make you cry.

Gifts in a mug, a bag, a box, a page in a book, or a package.

A gift at 8 am, at 12 noon, and at 6 pm in the evening.

A gift you give. A gift you gave.

Gifts are all around us.

So, take the dare!

Enter His courts with thanksgiving in your heart and live life in the abundance and fullness of full joy! God doesn’t want to give you any less.

So count them!

It doesn’t matter how, but keep record of them– a note tab on your fridge, in a notebook, on your iphone or ipad, on your calendar, datebook, or to-do list… however or whichever method you choose… just count.

Count 3 gifts in a day and count 1,000 of His gifts this year!

And join with me and others and tag these precious gifts on Facebook and other social media using the #1000gifts so we can encourage one another and step into His fullness of joy.
