Spring Trends I am Loving…

Spring has sprung here in the Deep South.

Temps are in the 60s and 70s throughout the week, the sun is shining, and I even pulled out a pair of sandals this past weekend! That’s got to be some kind of record for me in March! Tends to be kind of crazy weather month.

So many spring trends for this season, and many of them you can start wearing right now! Start transitioning your closet now!

Here are some of my favorites…

Denim on Denim on Denim

Yep- you heard it right. Denim on denim.

For years we have believed you couldn’t mix denim, but then again, every rule is meant to be broken. Sometime.

So lovely! And paired with that white blazer? Yum!

This stylish look by The Daybook proves sweatpants aren't just for lounging anymore. #Style #Fashion

Mix shades of denim, weights, lengths, textures, etc. Have fun!

It is Minimalism at its very brightest & very, very chic.

Gingham

No longer just for picnics & tablecloths…

It was all over the Fashion Week runways. This classic pattern is all the rage! I personally love the large, block, over-sized gingham pictured above in a couple of the maxi skirt options. Gotta love a good maxi!

Already have a classic gingham or plaid shirt? Here is a great couple of looks from Fizz&Frosting.com.

I love getting ideas of how to wear something that I might already have lurking right there in my closet.

Classic White!

Could there be anything more timeless than wearing classic white?

It is the pinnacle in ladylike fashion & classic style. It never goes out of style, but luckily, it is one of the top trends for spring 2015! And when I say white, I mean all white.

Kate Spade is embracing this hue celebrating with simple spring & summer dresses in their new line.

I will be the first to admit it. An all white ensemble scares the heck out of me! But, with a few quick tips, we can rock white & other accents from head to toe too!

  1. White jeans are so flattering, but the key is to buy bootcut (the most figure flattering style for most body types) and buy one size larger than usual.
  2. To create the illusion that you are taller and slimmer than you are, pair with some nude pumps or wedges. You will be amazed what a difference it makes!
  3. Choose a thicker fabric, like a structured denim or trouser over something like linen. It’s more forgiving.
  4. Add colorful accents & accessories. They will catch people’s eyes as they pop against the canvas of your monochromatic look.

The Shirtdress.

From Leave it to Beaver to 2015… I have always loved the timeless & effortless sophistication of a shirtdress!

Throw one on and go!

Works well for casual Saturdays with sandals and a sunhat, dressed up with heels and a blazer for a meeting, or worn anywhere in between. It’s the perfect utilitarian, work-horse piece your closet needs.

Fringe Factor!

I feel like it’s a love-hate relationship with fringe. Some love it, others hate it.

I am on the side of “love it”. In fact, one of my favorite sweaters in trilled in dainty camel fringe & I love the way it looks & feels. Who doesn’t love clothes that move with you?!?

Tapajos Fringed Poncho

The key to fringe is not to over-accessorize it. Let it speak for itself. It’s like built-in personality for that shoe, handbag, or sweater.

Midi Skirts.

Another favorite of mine, and one I plan to wear this spring and summer & often!

So, a midi skirt is a skirt that hits between your knee and ankle- somewhere in the middle of your calf/shin area. It can be very fashion-forward and ladylike when paired with a pretty blouse, tank, or jacket. Can be dressed up for an event or dressed down for tooling around town.

That’ the beauty of the midi.

Instead of showing you examples of how to wear the midi, I am listing a few of my favorites below… ones I am currently crushing on…

Hello tulle midi skirt!!!

How fun it would be to twirl in that one.

I am also a big fan of this vintage scarf skirt.

So, I hope you feel inspired to try something new, add a new trend to your favorite wardrobe basics and mix it up a little bit this season.

You won’t be sorry you did!

Be beautiful… it’s how He made you!

xoxo
