It has been a while, and I can honestly say, I have truly missed you!
You see, when I originally started this blog, it wasn’t so that I could monetize or start my own media company or have thousands of Instagram followers (and I am not saying there is anything wrong with any of that!), but I just wanted to share peeks of my everyday life with you. What I was reading. What I was cooking up in the kitchen. New fashion trends I am loving or new skincare or beauty products I am trying. Where I was traveling. And, most importantly, what the Lord was teaching me.
But somehow, as it normally does, life got in the way of my writing, my daily & weekly journaling, and my sharing.
So, let me take this opportunity to catch-up, reconnect, and start things back up in 2019!
2018 was a year.
That seems to be the understatement of the century, but it was also my most growing and stretching year yet.
A year full of change, heartache, anxiety, and even at times, depression.
… But, His joy always comes in the morning!
And so, because of His good nature and His good grace, it was also a year of growth, blessing, opportunity, & contentment. It was a year of new friendships, new projects, new learnings, and new personal disciplines.
Some of my highlights? Let me replay some greatest hits for you, if you will indulge me…
My Dawgs played for the National Title game… and although it didn’t turn out like the Red n Black faithful hoped, it was a great moment in time and I am more hopeful of our future than ever!
We had 2 more precious littles join our friends group… welcome Harper and Beau! (I LOVE being an Aunt Jamie!)
Dad and I checked off a huge bucket list Daddy-Daughter item in April and attended a Friday Round at Augusta National for the Master’s Tournament. We took it all in, including BBQ, pimento cheese, peach tea, cookies, chips, and, of course, Jordan Spieth.
Mom, Dad, and I went to Canada in June and did a 2 week long journey through the Canadian Rockies. I can tell you that the Lord’s presence lives in Banff, and more specifically at Lake Louise. Seriously one of the most breathtaking views I have ever witnessed.
In October, I journeyed to Hawaii for a work assignment. And I know what you are thinking… Hawaii for work? Trust me- if you were on a plane for a total of 20+ hours in the matter of 4 days, that is WORK, girl! But, oh so, so worth it!
In December, just a few weeks shy of Christmas, Mom and Dad moved to Smyrna. Selling our family home of the last 15 years certainly wasn’t on the radar for 2018, but God had a different plan, and they are so very happy and settling in their new community. And me? I love having them just 20 minutes down the road!
And so far, 2019 is off to a roaring start! It barely even gave me a minute or two to settle in before it hit full throttle, but you know what, it’s been so good and so sweet so far.
I have been able to control and negate some health problems that crept up on me by doing Whole 30 in January and I love the way I feel when I eliminate stress and junk from my diet. Does so much for my attitude and my energy level.
I joined a year-long all-women discipleship & accountability group led by one of my favorite people, and a true Spiritual giant in my life. A little over 1 month in, and I know it will be one of 2019’s greatest gifts from the Father.
I am busy with work. Real busy. And the hits just keep on coming, but I am taking each challenge in stride, but at the same time, planning coffee dates with colleagues, dinner dates with friends and family, and quiet times to rest, read, study, meditate, and just be amidst the crazy, the to-dos, and the meetings. This also includes vacation too— and boy do I get to go on some adventures this year, Lord willing. Ireland! Arizona! California! Orlando! NYC! Bring it on…
Which brings me to my word for the year: EXPECTANT.
Expectant of His hand, His work, His story.
I want to wait and be obedient in expectation.
I want to expect the good in others and offer friendship and forgiveness freely. Especially to myself.
Expectant of opportunities that come my way and be willing to serve or to speak up or to sit quietly and listen.
I pray that your 2019 is off to a good start and that you too have a word, or maybe even a few, that He has laid on your heart. I know it will be a good one.
So, I’ll be seeing you around here again real soon…
